Comedy EventsIf you're looking for a comprehensive comedy listing, look no further! There isn't one, anywhere. But this is a list of shows that DC / Baltimore comedians and promoters e-mailed us about -- you can usually find a lot of local talent at any event on this calendar. And don't forget about all of the open mics that are running every single week. We keep track of the headliners at local clubs in the box at the top of your screen. Every WeekMonday Thursday Saturday June 2009June 30: Michael's Pub, Columbia, Md. Usually the last Tuesday of the month at 8. Taglines comedy is organizing showcases at this Irish pub. $5 cover. You can get venue info at the Michael's site.
July 2009July 2: Baltimore Westin Thursday. The "Laff'n at Luminous" showcase is hosted by Meshelle on the first Thursday of every month. Starts at 8 after happy hour. July 2: New Talent Night, Magooby's Joke House "The funniest performer of the evening will win a $75 cash prize plus a booking for one of our regular weekend shows. Judging will be based on a combination of audience vote and jury panel. Doors open at 7:00 and tickets are only $7. There are only a limited number of performer spots available and bookings are first come first served. Email magoobysbernie@gmail.com for more details." Magooby's site
July 8: Heaven and Hell, Adams Morgan Wednesday. This show is every other week, organized by Simple JT. 2327 18th St. NW, DC 20009. July 9: Coco's Butter Cafe, Columbia, Md. Thursday. Rob Maher and Mark McClatchey present this first-ever show at Coco's. The show starts at 8 p.m. Here's Coco's web site. July 10: Uptown Tavern, Cleveland Park Friday at 9. This bi-monthly showcase is at the the sort-of-divey (not that it's a bad thing) Uptown Tavern (3433 Conn. Ave.). New comics are welcome to sign up by e-mailing: uptownhappyhour (at) gmail.com
July 18: The Great Blue, Shady Side, MD. The third Saturday of every month, comedy comes to Shady Side. Three comedians, host, feature, and headliner, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $10 in advance. "This is our monthly showcases of the weird, wonderful and well, just plain awesome of Baltimore Comedy.
